Rescue horses have often been saved from neglect or otherwise inhumane conditions. Ex-racers—or thoroughbreds who have come off the race track—are often classified as rescue horses. Many of these horses are sound and healthy enough to be retrained as show jumpers and hunters. Idle Dice, the famous jumper, was one of these horses.
